Our featured artist this week is recently and sadly departed James Brown (1933-2006) – The Godfather of Soul who has and will continue to influence many an artist and listener! NB James Brown had 96 top 100 hits, 116 R&B . “Living in America,” the theme song from Rocky IV, reached #4 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, becoming James Brown’s biggest pop hit since “I Got You (I Feel Good)” went to #3 in 1965.

    Thanks for playing my track and as requested, here is some background information.

    I got the tune on a promo CD from a place called the Wardrobe in Leeds (UK)through a friend of mine who, once he gets broadband will soon be listening to you as well. The CD is called J&B Rare and the lists just had the names of the artists, no titles. I realised that the backing to the track is The Fatback band’s ‘Yum Yum Gimme Some’.

    So on my I Tunes I call the track ‘Make me love you good’ which is probably as near as it gets.
