Welcome to the first of the new format of the Smooth Groovers Review.
As you will remember Episode 3-1 was a soul special to ‘kick start’ the new season.
So what is so different about the new season?
Well, we have still got the newies and Myspace artist segments but the Desert Island Groove and oldies have been replaced with Moments & Whatnot’s (a tune to remember a special moment of your life) and ‘Bring it Back’ – Like the former oldies section but with some personal favs & associated stories!
So lets go for it…………….!

In this week’s Newies we have:
Seal – Check out his new CD, System, and the featured track is brilliant just like each and every track on the CD.
Alicia Keys – From her new CD – As I Am
Alicia Keys is an American R&B and soul singer, songwriter, pianist, record producer, actress, philanthropist, and author who has sold over twenty-five million records worldwide and has won numerous awards, including nine Grammy Awards, eleven Billboard Music Awards, and three American Music Awards.
Myspace featured artists include:
Gordon James – Drivin’ from his awesome new CD ‘In Joy”
Please visit him at his Myspace site too.
The Prof and I are deeply impressed and in awe of this CD and strongly recommend it.
Consider it as stated on home page site as, ‘Smooth Jazz with a touch of Soul, RnB, OldSchool, HipHop Blended, Vibed & Funkafied’. The CD also has covers from a couple tunes very familiar to us, ‘Back Together Again’ , ‘One Nation Under A Groove’ and ‘Sunshine’.
It was great to hear from Jerome Epps via our Facebook group:
We feature SmoothFunk. Jermone is an artists whose 1st music teacher was Roberta Flack. Please visit his fantastic sound & buy his stuff too, via http://myspace.com/jeromeepps NB His CD is called ‘Eclectic Fusion’, which blends jazz-funk, latin-jazz and fusion together with contemporary dance beats & is highly recommended.
TAPE FIVE – Cancun – TributeTo H.Mancini. Please visit them at http://myspace.com/tapefive
Their music is described on Myspace as ‘the retro neobossa latin swing thing’
The track we feature is from a cd called ‘Bossa For A Coup’ recently released in Europe but to be released in America in 2008.
A few weeks back we had a chance to chat with Peter White at excellent gig at
The Pizza Express Jazz Club in London.
We loved his choice in the new Moments & Whatnots section of Pat Metheney
Peter’s most recent CD is ‘Playing Favourites’ from 2006. Check out his website, there is plenty to read, including a full discography, and samples to listen to. Consider Music CD as Christmas present and PW CD will be a gr8 choice!
In Bring it Back Section we feature:
Bobby Caldwell – Please visit him at: http://www.bobbycaldwell.com/
Innocence – from the excellent 1990 album Belief, this was also out as a single.
Brian Culbertson – From the CD – Somethin’ Bout Love
Dennis Coffey – From his 1977 album Back Home. Dennis has played guitar on over 100 Mowtown soul records artists such as The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, and The Four Tops. He has recorded in LA with artists such as Quincy Jones, Marvin Gaye, Martha Reeves, and Ringo Starr. Dennis has also worked with George Clinton.
That is it for another show.
We would love your feedback on the new format or just a note to say Hi!
Until next time.
Thanks for taking part in the Podcast Revolution, podcast revolution it is!
